Midtown offers fresh, fun & fanciful 2nd Saturday stops in May

A center for culture, creativity and vibrancy, Midtown Sacramento is an exciting 2nd Saturday Art Walk destination where local art galleries and other participating businesses collaborate to host a popular evening open house each month. Midtown guests will enjoy viewing art exhibits, participating in hands-on activities, meeting local artists, sampling food and wine, listening to live music and more.  On Saturday, May 13, 2017, a sampling of the offerings presented by Midtown galleries and businesses include the following:

  • ARTasylum (2017 I Street #B) – a new artist studio, gallery, and boutique in Midtown – presents a special show titled “Women n’ Bloom” along with a FREE art activity and complimentary refreshments.  ARTasylum offers studio rental space to artists, hands-on community classes, as well a fun and creative space for resident and nonresident artists to sell their artwork.
  • Art Of Toys (1126 18th Street) – a toy art gallery built to showcase toys and the artists that craft them –offers ROBOTS! featuring the art of Chris Cinder, Robert Gordon and introducing Bryan Ward. Plus, Artie Annette will offer a FREE hands-on art activity.

  • Kennedy Gallery (1931 L Street) features a special 20/20 Show – their largest of the year -- with 20 artists presenting works in oil, acrylic, metal, and other mediums.  An entertaining live jazz band and a full service bar help make this an extra special event.

  • Tim Collom Gallery (915 20th Street) is thrilled to exhibit new ceramics and paintings by Cindy Wilson. A native to Davis, Wilson's bright, bold, and funky ceramics – such as vibrant beach balls – can be found in private collections all over the U.S. and in many local, public and community spaces.

  • TRUE (Totally Recycled Urban Exchange at 1900 K Street) offers complimentary light snacks, music by DJ Hustle and a shopping discount of 30 percent off. A retail store that benefits WEAVE, TRUE offers a FUN environment to enjoy music, sip wine and shop for clothing that creates change in lives when you buy.

In addition to the special offerings provided by Midtown businesses on May 13, the ever-popular Midtown Farmers Market is happening that day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the THIS Midtown free summer concert (every 2nd Saturday through September) from 5 to 9 p.m. on 20th between J and K Streets. Midtown is both walkable and bike-friendly with parking available in nearby garages located at 1801 L Street or the East End Garage on 17th Street between L & Capitol plus various lots throughout Midtown.
