SOUTH SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Two men were killed in south Sacramento Friday morning after a driver in a pickup truck hit them and sped off, said police.

Sacramento police officers at the scene on 24th Avenue and Kenworthy Way, said a witness saw two men arguing in the middle of 24th Ave. around 2:45 a.m. when a white pickup drove down the street and plowed into both of them.

The truck then sped away northbound on 24th Ave., according to the witness' report.

Emergency response crews were called to the area and pronounced one of the men dead at the scene. The other man was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police are actively investigating the nature of the initial argument between the two men, as well as the hit and run.

The make and model of the truck were not obtained, but police said the vehicle likely has damage to its front end.

Anyone who sees the truck or has information pertaining to the incident was asked to call police immediately.
