SACRAMENTO, CA - A teen, who was arrested in connection to a 2011 south Sacramento shooting death, was convicted of murder Friday.
Richard Carter was 17 years old when he was arrested in December 2011 for the shooting death of Kevin Burks on Oct. 11, 2011, Sacramento County District Attorney's Office spokesperson Shelly Orio said.
Burks was driving in the area of 100 block of Decathlon Circle and stopped in front of a house. Sacramento police said several shots were then fired into his car; Burks was hit by one round and died at the scene.
Carter was arrested two months later in connection to Burks death. Orio said he was charged and convicted as an adult.
