Prankster causes lockdowns at 3 Sacramento schools | Crime
SACRAMENTO - Someone's idea of a practical joke led to extensive police activity and lockdowns at three Sacramento schools on Wednesday.
Officer Doug Morse of the Sacramento Police Department said dispatch received a call at 10:41 a.m. from a student at an undisclosed school stating a shooting had taken place.
Numerous units were immediately dispatched to the area around Luther Burbank High School, Rosa Parks Middle School and Mark Hopkins Elementary School and the schools were placed on lockdown.
Arriving officers searched the area but did not find any suspects, said Morse.
Faculty at the schools told police they did not hear gunfire.
Lockdowns at two of the schools were subsequently lifted, but the third remained in place to search for the suspected caller.
When officers were unable to locate the caller, the third lockdown was lifted, Morse said.
