Non-Profit “The Effort” Hosts Six Free Whooping Cough Vaccination Clinics for Area Children

Sacramento—On August 9th, 2011, from 2pm-6pm, The Effort will host the first of 6 vaccination clinics at three of their Community Health Center sites. This first clinic will be held at The Effort’s South Valley Community Health Center, 8233 E. Stockton Blvd, Suite D. (737-5555)

The Effort, in keeping with their mission of providing quality health care to the Sacramento area, offers these state-mandated Tdap vaccinations (combination vaccine that protects against whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus) free to area students who might have limited access.  The 6 clinics will be offered from 2-6pm at 3 of their regional health centers:

Wednesday, July 13, at 4 p.m.: Games of the World (School-Age Program).
     Kids ages 5 to 12 can challenge others in friendly games, including Chinese Checkers, Mancala, Go, Parcheesi, Nine Men's Morris, Pick Up Sticks, Checkers and Chess.

Tuesday, July 19, at 4 p.m.: Computer Class: Creating a Personal Email Account (Adult Program).
     Participants will learn the steps necessary to create a free personal e-mail account.  Registration is required to attend by calling (916) 264-2920 or visiting www.saclibrary.org

Sacramento Public Library presents Cuentos y Cantos

 

 

Quinteto Latino blends the vibrant colors and rhythms of Latin American music with the voices of the wind quintet: flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon. Celebrate the music, language and culture of Latin America through story and song in this special family concert. The five musicians of Quinteto Latino weave together stories and music, opening the door for families to explore the rich history and diverse musical traditions of Latin America. Whether the weeping with La Llorona (the crying woman) or tapping to the Jarabe Tapatio (Mexican Hat Dance), Quinteto Latino will have you moving and singing along. The program is free!
