Old City Cemetery Event - "What's Blooming?"

Come to the Old City Cemetery to see what's blooming on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

Visit the Hamilton Square Garden in the Old City Cemetery for a look at early perennials, which thrive in the Sacramento Valley. Rain cancels.

The cemetery is located at 1000 Broadway, Sacramento. Free parking is available in the lot at 10th & Broadway, across the street from the 10th Street entrance. Assemble in the cemetery in the front parking lot. Tours are free; however, donations are appreciated and benefit cemetery preservation projects. For more information call, 916 455-8166.

"Deadheading at Dusk" at the Old City Cemetery

Come join us in the beautiful Old City Cemetery’s Historic Rose Garden for an early evening hands-on event on Monday, May 5th @ 6:30 pm. We will be removing spent blooms from the many rosebushes and tidying up the garden which encourages repeat blooming of the roses in our treasured Historic Rose Garden.

Tools and training will be provided and light refreshments will be served.

Workshops are free, however, donations are appreciated and go towards the restoration and preservation of the roses and cemetery artifacts.

Old City Cemetery Tour - Drugs in the Old West

The dice were not the only thing loaded in the old west.  From pharmacies to opium dens, many California pioneers were under the influence.  Join us on April 5th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. for an uncut dose of history.

NINTH Annual Tomato Tasting put on by the Elk Grove Community Garden

The NINTH Annual Tomato Tasting, put on by the Elk Grove Community Garden is Saturday, September 7th , from 9 a.m. to noon. This FREE event is open to the public. 

The tasting tables will be set up at the front of the garden, for you to try over 30 different types of tomatoes’ grown in the EGCGarden. This year will also feature Fence Art by Carolyn Groth, a local Elk Grove artist. There will also be a Children’s Craft Table hosted by the Elk Grove Gardeners of the Grove.  Some tomatoes, herbs, plants and yard art will be available for purchase. There will also be Community Garden tours and a Master Gardener will be available to answer your gardening questions.  Come out and visit this great event to taste test some different tomato varieties, tour the garden, to see the success of the Elk Grove Community Garden and how it gives back to the community.

Elk Grove Community Garden is gearing up for its Annual Plant Sale

The Elk Grove Community Garden is gearing up for its Annual Plant Sale.  This year’s Plant Sale is being held on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Community Garden location at 10025 Hampton Oak Drive in Elk Grove. Now that spring has sprung, it is time to get your garden started. The volunteer gardeners will have lots of tomato plants, peppers, herbs, and some perennials for color in your garden for sale. There will also be Community Garden tours as well as a Master Gardener available to answer your gardening questions.
