Sacramento area traffic incidents, slowing, flooding

SACRAMENTO AREA - The third and biggest blast of rain and wind battered Northern California Sunday morning, bringing down trees, creating slick roadways, and making for dangerous driving conditions.

As of 9 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was working more than 50 problems in the Sacramento region alone.

Following are a list of road closures, traffic incidents and slowing on Sunday:

Flooding, closures reported:

  • Blue Ravine Rd. at Folsom Blvd. closed to 8 Sunday night
  • Sibley St closed btwn Levy and Blue Ravine Rds in Folsom
  • EB CCF at Fulton 10 mph  9:30am
  • EB CCF at Fulton 10 mph  9:30am
  • WB CCF at Marconi 10 mph
  • Garden Highway at I-5
  • Highway 70 at 65 closed, 3 feet of water
  • Highway 99 at 50 connector
  • CCF at 51st water reported
  • EB 50 at Hazel
  • Madison at College Oak
  • Hway 102 at East Gibson
  • Hurey at Fulton
  • Cherry Ave at Granite
  • Golden State Freeway at Highway 49

Trees down reported:

  • Greenback at Chestnut
  • Auburn at Watt
  • Highway 49 at Lime- Kiln closed, tree down, CHP reports hit by several cars
  • Highway 16 at Rumsey Canyon closed due to mudslides

Accidents include:

  • I-5 South at Laguna
  • SB Highway 99 at Florin
  • EB CCF at El Camino
  • WB CCF near Arden

High winds reported throughout the area. Sacramento Regional Transit reports power lines are down on the light rail tracks in Folsom near Blue Ravine.

The CHP and Caltrans report it's wet but no chains required in the Sierra this morning on Interstate 80 or Highway 50.

It was a wet mess in Folsom for the CIM.
